About Dog & Duck

Dog & Duck is a free browser shooting-gallery game and the outlier of our dog games hub, because the dog is neither your character nor your patient — it is your companion. You are the one with the aim, hunting ducks across a dynamic environment while the dog flushes elusive prey out for you, and the birds get faster and harder to hit as you progress. It is a direct descendant of the duck-hunting arcade games of the 1980s, and it plays like one: pure targeting, escalating speed, and nothing else to think about. That simplicity is the appeal. Anyone who grew up with a light gun will recognise it immediately, and anyone who did not will find it an unusually clean reflex test. There is no dog care in it. It is a landscape game, free in the browser, with no download, no account and no app store needed.

How to play Dog & Duck

1. Watch where your dog goes — it flushes the ducks out for you.
2. Aim at the birds as they rise and take your shot.
3. Lead a moving target rather than aiming where it is now.
4. Keep your accuracy up as the ducks get faster and more elusive.
5. Clear each round to progress to a harder one.

Controls

• Desktop: Mouse — move to aim and click to shoot.
• Mobile / tablet: Tap to aim and shoot. The game adapts to any screen size.

Dog & Duck tips & strategy

• Lead your shots. A duck aimed at directly is a duck already gone.
• Watch the dog rather than the sky; it tells you where the next bird will come from.
• Take the nearer bird first when two rise together — the far one is still reachable afterwards.
• Accuracy degrades faster than reflexes do, so short sessions score better.
• No dog care in it; the dog is your companion rather than your charge.
• A mouse is considerably more accurate than touch for this one.
