About Spot the Differences

Spot the Differences is a free browser-based observation puzzle from indie studio Rabbit Mountain, published on Poki in May 2024. Each level shows two nearly identical illustrations side by side, and your job is to click the spots where they differ before the timer runs out. You get three lives per level, so a wrong click costs you, and a hint button can reveal a difference when you are truly stuck. The hand-drawn artwork spans scenes from fairy tales, plates of food, and cozy street views, giving the hunt plenty of visual variety. It runs in the browser on desktop, phone, and tablet with a single click-or-tap control scheme, so there is nothing to download. Levels grow trickier as the differences get smaller and better hidden, rewarding patient, methodical scanning over frantic clicking. It holds a 4.3-star rating from over 100,000 Poki votes.

How to play Spot the Differences

1. Look at the two side-by-side pictures and compare them section by section.
2. Click or tap directly on any spot where the two images differ.
3. Find every difference in the level before the timer runs out.
4. Mind your lives — you have three per level, and each wrong click costs one.
5. Tap the hint button when you are stuck to have one difference revealed.
6. Clear a level to move on to the next, harder set of pictures.

Spot the Differences tips & strategy

• Scan methodically: mentally split each image into a grid (corners, edges, center) and check one zone at a time instead of eyeballing the whole picture at once.
• Watch for the common change types — a shifted color, a missing object, an added detail, or a resized/mirrored shape cover most differences.
• Don't click at random; a wrong guess drains one of your three lives, so only click when you are sure.
• Save the hint button for the last difference or two you genuinely can't find rather than spending it early.
• Check edges, backgrounds, and repeating patterns — differences hidden in clouds, borders, or textures are the easiest to overlook.
• Keep half an eye on the timer; if one spot stumps you, move on and circle back rather than stalling.
