The Room

About The Room

The Room is a top-down 2D pixel-art shooter where you defend a central point in an arena from waves of enemies closing in from every direction. You move around the room shooting attackers before they reach the center, with each wave bringing more enemies and tougher attack patterns. The core loop is survival: hold the line, manage enemies coming from multiple angles, and last as long as possible against escalating difficulty.

How to play The Room

1. Move your character around the room using the arrow keys or WASD.
2. Aim with your mouse and click or hold to shoot at incoming enemies.
3. Keep enemies from reaching the center of the room - even one enemy getting through ends the run.
4. Reposition constantly to cover enemies approaching from different sides.
5. Survive each wave to advance to the next, tougher wave of enemies.

Controls

• Desktop: Arrow keys or WASD to move; mouse to aim, click or hold to shoot.
• Mobile / tablet: Playable in mobile and tablet browsers in landscape orientation, with touch controls for movement and for aiming/shooting.

The Room tips & strategy

• Don't stand still - enemies approach from all sides, so keep circling near the center rather than camping one spot.
• Prioritize the enemy closest to the center over the one closest to you; proximity to the objective matters more than proximity to your character.
• Watch your surroundings, not just where you're aiming - a quick glance behind you can catch a flanking enemy before it breaks through.
• Learn each wave's enemy mix so you can predict which direction the next threat is likely to come from.
• Keep firing steadily instead of pausing between shots - in wave-based defense, downtime is when enemies close the gap.
