Workers Screws is a free browser-based 3D sorting puzzle built around a nuts-and-bolts theme. Each level lays out a cluster of upright screws, every one stacked with a jumble of colored nuts, and your job is to unscrew and rearrange those nuts until each screw holds a single color. You move one nut at a time, dropping it onto a matching-colored nut or an empty screw, planning ahead so you don't bury a color you'll need later. It belongs to the popular color-sort family alongside nut-sort and ball-sort games, but leans into a satisfying 3D look and a relaxed, timer-free pace. Early stages ease you in with just a couple of colors, while later puzzles pack in more screws and shades to test your spatial planning. It loads instantly on desktop and mobile with simple tap or click controls.
How to play Workers Screws
- Study the board first: several screws each hold a stack of mixed-color nuts, and you clear a level when every screw ends up holding nuts of just one color.
- Tap or click a screw to lift its top nut, then tap the screw where you want to drop it.
- A nut can only land on an empty screw or on top of another nut of the same color, so choose which colors to move first.
- Keep at least one screw empty or nearly empty as temporary space for shuffling colors around.
- Continue sorting until each screw is a single, clean color to solve the level and move on to the next.
Controls
- Desktop: Click a screw to pick up its top nut, then click another screw to place it there. That is the entire control scheme, no keyboard required.
- Mobile / tablet: Tap a screw to lift its top nut, then tap the destination screw to drop it. Everything plays with single taps.
Workers Screws tips & strategy
- Always keep at least one empty or nearly empty screw as workspace for untangling stubborn color stacks.
- Only lift a nut when you can send it to a matching color or a genuinely useful spot; wasted moves clog your free space.
- Finish colors that are almost complete first to open up room on the board.
- Think a few moves ahead. Burying a color you will need under others is the most common way to get stuck.
- There is no timer, so slow down and treat it as a logic puzzle rather than rushing taps.
- If a level jams up, restart and try a different opening move instead of forcing a bad sequence.
