TRZ Battleship is an HTML5 take on the classic naval combat board game, built in Construct 3 by developer trezegames. You arrange a fleet of 5 ships on a 6x10 grid, then trade turns firing shots at your CPU opponent's hidden grid, using each hit or miss to narrow down where their remaining ships are hiding. It's single-player only, played against the computer rather than another person.
How to play TRZ Battleship
- Before the match starts, drag and drop each of your 5 ships onto your 6x10 grid to position them.
- Hold a ship to rotate it between horizontal and vertical, or tap the shuffle button to auto-randomize your whole fleet.
- Press play once your fleet is arranged to begin the battle.
- On your turn, click a cell on the enemy's grid to fire; a red X marks a hit and a white O marks a miss.
- Use the pattern of hits and misses to deduce where the rest of the enemy fleet is hiding, then keep firing on your turns.
- When a ship takes hits on every cell, it's revealed as sunk; sink the CPU's whole navy before it sinks yours to win.
Controls
- Desktop: Mouse only: click and drag to place/rotate ships during setup, then click a grid cell to fire.
- Mobile / tablet: Touch: tap and drag to place/rotate ships, tap a grid cell to fire.
TRZ Battleship tips & strategy
- Spread your ships out and avoid lining them up against the edges in a predictable pattern, since clustered fleets are easier to sweep with adjacent shots.
- After landing a hit, fire on the cells directly adjacent to it (up/down/left/right) before jumping elsewhere, since ships occupy a straight line of cells.
- Use the shuffle button during setup if you want a quick random layout instead of manually placing all 5 ships.
- Once you find a ship's orientation from a second hit, keep firing along that same line to sink it faster.
- Track misses as well as hits mentally (or on paper) to rule out empty regions of the enemy grid and narrow your search area.
What makes TRZ Battleship fun
The appeal is the classic push-your-luck deduction loop of Battleship condensed into a fast, no-download browser session, with simple drag-and-drop fleet placement and a shuffle shortcut that keeps setup quick before each match.
