Ludo Star is a browser-based (HTML5) version of Ludo, the classic four-player cross-and-circle race game descended from the ancient Indian game Pachisi. Each player controls four tokens of one color and must move them from a home yard, around a shared cross-shaped track, into a home column, based on rolls of a single six-sided die. This H5 build lets a player compete against computer-controlled opponents or, on some hosting sites, other people online, choosing between two and four players. Landing on an opponent's token sends it back to its yard, while marked safe squares protect tokens from capture. Rolling a six grants an extra turn and, on most boards, is required to move a token out of the yard. The first player to bring all four tokens home wins, and the game runs directly in the browser with no download or plugin needed.
How to play Ludo Star
- Choose the number of players (2-4) and, depending on the site hosting the game, whether opponents are computer-controlled or other people online.
- Click or tap the die to roll it; most rule sets require a roll of six to move a token out of your home yard and onto the track.
- Select which of your four tokens to advance; it moves clockwise around the shared cross-shaped track by the number rolled.
- Land on a square occupied by a rival's token to send it back to its yard - unless that square is a marked safe/star square, which protects tokens from capture.
- Rolling a six (or, on some boards, doubles) grants an extra roll; use bonus rolls to rush a token toward a safe square or into your home column.
- Move all four of your tokens into your home column before your opponents do to win the match.
Controls
- Desktop: Click the die to roll, then click one of your highlighted (movable) tokens to advance it. All menus and mode selection are mouse-driven.
- Mobile / tablet: Tap the die to roll and tap a token to move it; the board, die, and menus are sized for touchscreen play.
Ludo Star tips & strategy
- Get a token out of the yard as soon as you roll a six rather than always moving a token already on the board.
- Cluster near or land on star/safe squares whenever possible so opponents can't send you back to the yard.
- Before advancing a token, check whether the new square puts it in capture range of a nearby opponent.
- Save a bonus roll (from a six or double) for whichever token is most exposed or closest to reaching home.
- Two of your own tokens sharing a square can block rivals from passing, so consider stacking defensively when ahead.
What makes Ludo Star fun
Solo play against computer opponents plus, on some hosting sites, online matches with other players; 2 to 4 player games; the traditional cross-shaped Ludo board with safe/star squares; token capture mechanics; bonus rolls on sixes; and instant browser play with no download, install, or login required.
Ludo Star FAQ
Is Ludo Star free to play?
Yes. It runs directly in a web browser and is free to play, with no download, account creation, or plugin required.
Can I play against real people, or only the computer?
It depends on the portal hosting the game - some offer only matches against computer-controlled opponents, while others advertise online play against other people.
Who developed this browser version of Ludo Star?
We could not verify a specific developer for this exact HTML5 build. It is hosted independently across several game portals, none of which consistently credit a studio, so no developer is listed here rather than guessing.
Is this the same game as the "Ludo STAR" app on the App Store and Google Play?
Not confirmed. That mobile app is published by Gameberry Labs, but this browser version is a separately hosted HTML5 game and no verified link between the two has been established - treat it as an unofficial, unaffiliated build unless a portal states otherwise.
How many players can join a game?
Standard Ludo, including this version, is built for 2 to 4 players, each controlling four tokens of a single color.
Do I need to roll a six to start moving?
In most Ludo rule sets used by this game, yes - a token must leave its yard on a roll of six before it can advance around the track.
