Paint Quiz plays on a single vertical screen headed "Level 1". A round home-style button sits in the top-left corner. Below the heading are the words "Best Record", a red alarm-clock icon beside a green bar, and a numeric readout under the bar. A tall orange gauge runs down the left edge, capped at its foot by a palette-and-brush icon. A round opens in a tutorial state: a pointing-hand graphic and the orange prompt "Tap to Spray", with nothing in the play area. As you spray, a three-dimensional form in cyan and teal builds up in the middle of the screen, growing from a small angular fragment into a bowl- or shell-like shape, while the readout falls from 31:05 to 03:51, the green bar shrinks with it, and a grey empty section grows downward from the top of the orange gauge. Once spraying starts, a green button marked "Guess", with a question-mark icon, sits at the bottom of the screen, which indicates the round ends by naming the object.
How to play Paint Quiz
- A round starts with a tutorial state: a pointing-hand graphic and the orange prompt "Tap to Spray" show what to do.
- Tap or click in the play area to spray. A coloured three-dimensional form builds up in the middle of the screen as you go, growing from nothing into a bowl- or shell-like shape.
- Watch the tall orange gauge down the left edge. It starts completely full, and a grey empty section grows downward from its top as you spray. It carries a palette-and-brush icon at its foot, so it reads as the paint you have left.
- Watch the readout under the "Best Record" heading. It falls as you play - 31:05 down to 03:51 over one round - and the green bar beside the alarm clock shrinks with it, so the round is on a clock.
- Press the green "Guess" button at the bottom of the screen to identify the object. It is already on screen while the form is still incomplete, so you do not have to finish spraying first.
- The button with the house icon in the top-left corner is the only other control on the play screen.
Controls
- Desktop: Mouse only, as far as we have seen. Click in the play area to spray at the object, click the green "Guess" button at the bottom to submit a guess, and click the house icon in the top-left corner to leave the play screen. No keyboard prompt or key hint appears on screen.
- Mobile / tablet: The layout is portrait and the in-game prompt reads "Tap to Spray", so touch is the intended input: tap the play area to spray, tap the green "Guess" button to guess, tap the house icon in the top-left corner to leave the play screen. All three controls sit within thumb reach on a phone-shaped screen.
Paint Quiz tips & strategy
- The orange gauge on the left only ever falls and never refills, so treat spraying as something you have a limited amount of inside a round.
- The Guess button is already available while most of the form is still missing, so if you recognise it early you can press it rather than spraying on.
- The readout and the green bar both fall steadily, so the round is timed rather than open-ended.
- The form in the middle changes shape a lot as it fills in, so a single glance may not be enough to recognise it.
- The play screen is headed "Level 1", and the button in the top-left corner is the only way off it.
What makes Paint Quiz fun
A single vertical play screen headed "Level 1", with an on-screen tutorial prompt reading "Tap to Spray". A spray mechanic: an angular three-dimensional form in cyan and teal builds up in the middle of the screen as you spray, from nothing to a bowl- or shell-like shape. A tall orange gauge down the left edge, capped with a palette-and-brush icon, which starts full and empties from the top. A countdown under the heading "Best Record", shown both as a falling numeric readout and as a shrinking green bar beside an alarm-clock icon. A green "Guess" button with a question-mark icon at the bottom of the screen, available before the form is complete. A button with a house icon in the top-left corner. Portrait layout suited to phone screens. No score counter, coin display, colour-picker swatches, advertisement or level-select menu appears on the play screen.
Paint Quiz FAQ
What do you actually do in Paint Quiz?
You spray at a shape in the middle of the screen - the opening prompt reads "Tap to Spray" - and a green "Guess" button at the bottom lets you say what the object is.
Is there a time limit?
Yes. The readout under the "Best Record" heading counts down - 31:05 to 03:51 over one round - and the green bar beside the alarm-clock icon shrinks from completely full to nearly empty alongside it.
Does the paint run out?
It appears to. The tall orange gauge down the left edge is capped with a palette-and-brush icon, starts completely full, and empties from the top as you spray. We have not seen it refill or reach zero.
Do I have to paint the whole object before guessing?
No. The green "Guess" button is on screen while large parts of the form are still missing, so it can be pressed before the paint job is finished.
Does it play on a phone?
The screen is laid out vertically and the in-game prompt says "Tap to Spray", so it is built for touch in portrait. On a desktop the same actions would be done by clicking.
