Bubble Shooter HD is the plain, unadorned version of the genre, which is exactly why it is worth keeping on a games site. There is no spinner, no merge mechanic, no tycoon layer and no story: there is a board of coloured bubbles, a launcher at the bottom, and a level that gets harder than the one before it. You aim, you match three or more of a colour, the group pops, and anything that was hanging from that group falls away. Clear the board and you move on. The "HD" is about presentation rather than mechanics, and it shows in the one place it matters for this genre, which is reading colour at a glance. When bubbles are crisp and well separated you can plan two shots ahead; when they are muddy you end up firing at whatever is obviously safe. This is a good first bubble shooter to hand someone, and a good one to come back to when the variants start feeling like they are getting in the way of the game.

How to play Bubble Shooter HD

1. Aim the launcher at the board of bubbles above you.
2. Fire so your bubble lands against two or more of its own colour.
3. Matched groups of three or more pop and vanish.
4. Bubbles cut loose from the ceiling with nothing holding them up drop out of play.
5. Clear the board to finish the level and move on to a harder one.

Bubble Shooter HD tips & strategy

• Aim for the bubbles attaching a cluster to the ceiling, not the bubbles in the middle of it. Cutting the anchor drops everything underneath for free.
• Bank shots off the side walls reach into pockets that a straight line cannot. The rebound angle is predictable, so it is worth practising deliberately.
• Your next bubble is shown before you fire the current one. Use it: sometimes the right move is a deliberately small pop that sets up a large one.
• When a colour is nearly gone from the board, clearing the last of it removes it from the launcher rotation and makes every later shot more useful.
