About Magikmon

Magikmon is a 2D top-down RPG in which you play as Ander, a new student at Ogdoad Magic School. You explore the school and surrounding areas, capture wild creatures called Magikmon, and build a team of up to six of them to battle other students, faculty, and rival trainers across eight chapters. Combat is turn-based and uses a rock-paper-scissors style type system, similar in spirit to Pokemon but with its own Harry Potter meets Earthbound tone.

How to play Magikmon

1. Click anywhere on the screen to move Ander around the school grounds and explore new areas.
2. Approach wild Magikmon or rival trainers to trigger a battle encounter.
3. In battle, click your Magikmon moves to attack; each move has a type that beats or loses to others, so pick counters carefully.
4. Weaken wild Magikmon in battle, then use a capture action to add them to your team.
5. Manage a team of up to six Magikmon, swapping members between fights to cover different type matchups.
6. Progress chapter by chapter, defeating classmates and faculty bosses as the story advances.

Controls

• Desktop: Left mouse button only: click to move Ander around, and click move/menu buttons during battles to attack, use magic, or capture creatures.
• Mobile / tablet: Tap to move and tap on-screen buttons during battle to select attacks and actions; the game runs in-browser on touchscreens with no download needed.

Magikmon tips & strategy

• Learn the type triangle early: a move that is strong against an enemy type can end fights in a couple of hits, while a weak matchup can drag a battle out.
• Keep your team of six varied in type so you always have a good matchup available against a new opponent.
• Weaken, do not knock out, a wild Magikmon before attempting to capture it, since a fainted creature cannot be caught.
• Explore side areas of the school between story battles; extra encounters are a low-risk way to grind levels and expand your roster.
• Save capturing attempts for creatures with types you are missing on your team rather than duplicates of ones you already have.
