Bouncing Bug is a 2D arcade game built in Construct 3 by developer PitiGameDev, released on GamePix on November 22, 2022. You guide a small bug that flies automatically left and right inside a bouncy, enclosed box, bumping off the walls on its own. Your only input is switching the bug between flying upward and downward, weaving it around lurking monsters while scooping up coins to stay alive as long as possible.
How to play Bouncing Bug
- The bug moves left or right on its own, bouncing off the walls automatically.
- Click the left mouse button (or tap on mobile) to flip the bug's vertical direction between up and down.
- Time your direction switches to steer around monsters that drift into the bug's path.
- Fly through coins scattered around the box to add to your total.
- Watch your health, shown as small fly icons in the top-left corner - each hit from a monster removes one.
- Survive as long as you can; if all your fly health icons are gone, the run ends.
Controls
- Desktop: Left mouse button: toggle the bug between flying up and down. Movement left/right is automatic.
- Mobile / tablet: Tap the screen to toggle the bug between flying up and down. Movement left/right is automatic.
Bouncing Bug tips & strategy
- Watch a few seconds ahead rather than reacting at the last second - the bug's diagonal movement means you need lead time to dodge.
- Don't chase every coin; a coin that puts you in a monster's path isn't worth the health risk.
- Use the corners and edges of the box to reset your bounce angle when you're boxed in by multiple threats.
- Spend earned coins in the main-menu Shop to unlock different bug skins between runs.
What makes Bouncing Bug fun
The appeal is in its simple one-button risk/reward loop: constant automatic motion forces snap decisions about when to flip direction, while the coin-collecting shop system gives runs a light unlockable-progression hook.
