Barber Shop is a browser game shown from an isometric angle in a tall, vertical layout. You control a single chibi character with green hair, walking a paved street lined with hedges, a park bench and trees to a lot marked by a wooden "Barber Shop" archway and a striped barber pole. The game gives one printed objective at a time — "Go pick up your first pot of gold!", then "Go build a haircut set!" — and marks the target on screen for you, either with a green arrow above an object or a red highlighted oval on the ground to stand on. A banknote counter in the top-right corner reads 0 before the first pickup and 380 after it, then falls to 325 and 275 while the empty tiled lot fills with shop equipment: a reclining hair-washing chair with a white basin on blue tile, a red-and-white mirrored styling station with a pedestal stool, a sofa with folded linens stacked on it, and a front desk with a monitor. A heart badge beside a progress bar tracks how far you are through the current run of tasks — a red 1 with the bar counting to 12, then a gold 2 with the bar restarted at 0/15.
How to play Barber Shop
- Read the objective printed across the middle of the screen. The game gives one task at a time, such as "Go pick up your first pot of gold!" or "Go build a haircut set!".
- Head for whatever the game has marked. A green arrow hovers over the object you need, and a red highlighted oval on the ground shows a spot to stand on.
- Collect the stack of banknotes lying beside the path, next to the barber pole. The counter in the top-right corner reads 0 beforehand and 380 once the stack is gone.
- Build out the shop. The empty tiled lot fills with fittings — a hair-washing chair and basin on blue tile, a mirrored styling station with a stool and a rug, a sofa, and a front desk with a monitor — while the cash counter falls from 380 to 325 and then to 275.
- Keep working through the objectives to advance the bar beside the heart badge. It runs 0/12, 3/12 and 6/12 while the badge shows a red 1; once the badge turns gold and reads 2, the bar restarts at 0/15.
Controls
- Desktop: There are no keyboard prompts, key bindings or hotkey hints anywhere, and no on-screen joystick or movement pad. The only input hint is a white looping path traced by a pointing-hand cursor in the opening moments, plus two HUD buttons in the top-left corner — an orange list icon and a "Planning" button. Play it with the pointer and use the on-screen markers the game gives you: the arrowed money stack, the red oval on the ground, and the corner buttons. Whether that looping prompt is asking for a click or a dragged gesture is not clear, so follow the prompt as it appears rather than expecting a fixed key layout.
- Mobile / tablet: The game is laid out for a tall, phone-shaped screen and is played by touch. The on-screen prompts are the whole control set: the green arrow over the object to collect, the red highlighted oval on the ground to move to, and the HUD buttons in the top-left corner. No virtual joystick or D-pad is shown anywhere. One prompt early on is a hand cursor tracing a looping path, so some input may be a drag rather than a simple tap — follow the prompt as the game draws it.
Barber Shop tips & strategy
- Follow the printed objective before anything else. Only one task is shown at a time, and the game also marks its target with a green arrow or a red oval, so you never have to hunt for the next step.
- Pick up the banknote stack early. The counter sits at 0 until that pickup and reads 380 straight after it, and no other cash arrives before the building starts.
- Keep an eye on the cash counter while the shop fills up. It drops from 380 to 325 and then to 275 as fittings appear, so the equipment appears to be paid for out of that total.
- Use the bar beside the heart badge to see how much of the current stage is left. It counts to 12 while the badge shows a red 1, then restarts at 0/15 once the badge turns gold and reads 2, so the later stage asks for more.
What makes Barber Shop fun
Isometric cartoon shop-building in a tall browser window. A single chibi character you move around a street and a shop lot. One printed objective at a time, each paired with an on-screen marker — a green arrow over the target object, or a red highlighted oval showing where to stand. A cash counter in the top-right corner that reads 0, then 380 once the money stack beside the path is collected, then falls to 325 and 275 as the shop is built. Barber-shop fittings that fill an empty tiled floor: a reclining hair-washing chair with a white basin on blue tile, a red-and-white mirrored styling station with a black pedestal stool, a flower-shaped rug, a sofa with folded linens, a wall niche holding a pump bottle, and a front desk with a monitor and two small placards. A heart badge and progress bar that run from a red 1 with 0/12 to a gold 2 with 0/15. Three HUD counters — a red card, a stack of rainbow cards, and cash. A compass rose in the bottom corner. Runs free in the browser with no install.
Barber Shop gameplay video
In this clip: This clip covers the opening setup of Barber Shop rather than a haircut: on-screen prompts say "Go pick up your first pot of gold!" and then "Go build a haircut set!" as a green-haired character stands around an isometric shop lot. Later frames show a hair-wash chair, a mirror station and a reception desk in place, the cash counter at 380, 325 and then 275, and the heart badge at the top going from 1 (0/12) to 2 (0/15).
Barber Shop FAQ
Is Barber Shop free to play?
Yes. We host it free in the browser, so there is nothing to buy, download or install — open the page and the game loads and runs there.
What kind of game is Barber Shop?
It is an isometric shop-building game shown in a tall, vertical layout. You move a single character around a street and a shop lot, follow one printed objective at a time, collect cash and watch the empty floor fill with barber-shop equipment. As far as we have played it, that collecting and building is what play consists of — no haircut or styling mini-game appears on screen.
What does the money counter do?
It tracks your cash in the top-right corner. It reads 0 at the start, 380 after the stack of banknotes beside the path is collected, then 325 and 275 as a hair-washing chair with a basin, a mirrored styling station with a stool and a front desk with a monitor appear on the empty floor.
How do I know where to go next?
The game prints the current objective across the middle of the screen and marks the target for you. A green arrow hovers over the stack of banknotes you need to collect, and a red highlighted oval on the ground shows where to stand.
What do the heart badge and the bar at the top mean?
They track your progress through the current run of tasks. The badge shows a red 1 while the bar reads 0/12, 3/12 and then 6/12 as objectives are completed; the badge then turns gold, reads 2, and the bar restarts at 0/15.
