Sokoballs is a browser puzzle game built around the classic block-pushing formula popularized by Sokoban, reworked here with balls instead of crates. Each level drops you into a small pixel-art room scattered with balls and marked target switches, and the goal is simple to describe but tricky to execute: push every ball onto its matching switch without getting anything wedged in a corner or dead end. Because you can only push balls, never pull them, one careless move can lock a level out of reach, so success comes down to reading the whole layout before committing to a path. Levels start small and forgiving, then steadily add more balls, tighter corridors, and multi-step routing puzzles that force you to plan several pushes ahead. It's a quick-session game with a retro look, playable free directly in the browser on desktop or mobile, with no download or account required.
How to play Sokoballs
- Load the level and take a moment to spot every ball and its matching target switch before moving.
- Move your character with the arrow keys or WASD to walk into a ball and push it forward one tile at a time.
- Plan each push carefully — you can only push balls, never pull them back toward you.
- Guide every ball onto a switch; the level only clears once all switches are covered.
- If a ball ends up stuck in a corner or wall with no way to reach its switch, press R to restart the level.
- Work through the levels in order — later stages add more balls and tighter layouts that need multi-step planning.
Controls
- Desktop: Arrow keys or WASD to move your character and push balls; press R to restart the current level.
- Mobile / tablet: Use the on-screen directional controls to move and push balls, with a tap-to-restart button available if a ball gets stuck.
Sokoballs tips & strategy
- Scan the whole room before your first move — identify every ball and which switch it needs to reach.
- Push balls that need to travel farthest or into tricky spots first, and save the easy, nearby ones for last.
- Never push a ball into a corner or dead-end tile unless its switch is right there — you can't pull it back out.
- Work out the final push each ball needs, then plan backward from that to figure out your first move.
- If you box yourself in or trap a ball, don't keep pushing blindly — restart with R and try a cleaner order.
- Slow down on later levels; a single wrong push can make the whole level unsolvable and force a restart.
