Perimeter - Legate Edition is a browser build based on Perimeter, the 2004 real-time strategy game developed by K-D Lab. The core loop is classic RTS: gather energy, terraform the terrain to create buildable, defensible ground, expand your base, and raise a perimeter (a protective energy-shield 'frame') around your territory while fielding units that morph between different combat roles to fight off the hostile Scourge and rival Legates.
How to play Perimeter - Legate Edition
- Start a mission and use your Command Center's terraforming tool to flatten and expand the land around your base into buildable terrain.
- Build energy-collecting structures on the terraformed ground to fund construction and unit production.
- Construct military and support buildings, then produce units and morph them between their different combat forms as the situation demands.
- Raise a Perimeter (defensive energy frame) around your base to shield it from enemy attacks and Scourge incursions.
- Select units or groups and issue move/attack orders to scout, expand your territory, and engage enemy forces.
- Manage energy income against building and unit upkeep as you push outward, terraform new ground, and take the enemy base.
Controls
- Desktop: Mouse-driven RTS controls: left-click to select units/buildings and to place/confirm construction and terraforming, right-click to issue move/attack orders, drag to box-select multiple units, and use on-screen menus/hotkeys to switch between build, terraform, and unit-morph modes.
- Mobile / tablet: Tap to select units and menu options, and tap-and-drag for movement/box-selection, following the same point-and-command interface as the desktop version, adapted for touch on the GamePix player.
Perimeter - Legate Edition tips & strategy
- Terraform early: flat land is required to place most buildings, so expand your buildable footprint before you run out of room.
- Keep your energy income ahead of your spending - new buildings and unit production both draw on the same energy pool.
- Raise your Perimeter shield before an attack lands, not during one; it takes time to establish and is much less useful reactively.
- Morph your units to match the threat instead of building new unit types from scratch - it's faster and cheaper mid-battle.
- Scout with cheap, expendable units before committing your main force so you're not walking into a fortified enemy perimeter blind.
What makes Perimeter - Legate Edition fun
A browser build built on a genre-distinct 2004 RTS: instead of static maps, you actively reshape the battlefield with terraforming, and unit 'morphing' lets a single unit type flex between multiple combat roles instead of locking you into fixed unit rosters.
