Night City Racing is a 3D arcade racing game set on neon-lit night-time streets, built around three modes: Racing, Challenge, and Free Drive. You earn points from race wins that can be used to upgrade your car, and beyond standard circuit races the game also includes airplane racing and a local two-player split-screen mode.
How to play Night City Racing
- Pick a mode from the menu: Racing (structured races), Challenge, or Free Drive.
- Choose one-player or two-player (local split-screen) before starting.
- Steer and accelerate through the course, aiming to finish first or hit the mode's objective.
- Use your nitro boost for bursts of speed on straightaways.
- Win races to earn points, then spend them on car upgrades.
- Work through the available Racing and Challenge events, or switch to Free Drive to explore without a race objective.
Controls
- Desktop: Player 1: W/A/S/D or Arrow Keys to drive, Shift for NOS boost, plus separate keys for resetting the car, looking back, and switching camera view. In two-player mode, Player 2 drives with the Arrow Keys and has its own mirrored set of NOS, reset, look-back, and camera keys so both players can play at once on a split screen. Exact key letters can vary by build - check the in-game control screen to confirm.
- Mobile / tablet: On touchscreens the GamePix version uses on-screen steer/accelerate/brake buttons and a nitro button in place of the keyboard controls.
Night City Racing tips & strategy
- Save your nitro boost for straight stretches rather than corners, since it's easy to lose control at top speed while turning.
- Reinvest the points you earn from race wins into car upgrades early so later Racing and Challenge events are more manageable.
- Use the camera-view and look-back controls to spot opponents closing in from behind before a corner.
- Try Free Drive mode first if you want to learn the layout of the streets without race pressure.
- In two-player mode, agree on split-screen sides beforehand since Player 1 and Player 2 use separate key sets.
What makes Night City Racing fun
The mix of Racing, Challenge, and Free Drive modes, plus an upgrade system funded by race winnings, gives Night City Racing more structure than a typical one-off arcade racer, while local two-player split-screen and an airplane racing mode add variety beyond standard street circuits.
