Penalty Superstar flips the usual penalty-kick formula: instead of striking the ball, you play as the goalkeeper. Standing on the goal line, you use the arrow keys (or swipe on mobile) to move, jump, and slide, trying to read each shooter and get a hand or a foot to the ball before it crosses the line. A match runs six penalties, and you need at least four saves to win and advance. Early practice rounds ease you in, then you climb a ladder of leagues — from a casual home league up to the professional level — where opponents shoot faster and aim smarter. Power-ups drop in to temporarily enlarge your keeper for easier saves, while some pickups shrink you, so timing and shot-reading matter as much as raw reflexes. It's a quick, pick-up-and-play browser game with a clever role reversal at its core.
How to play Penalty Superstar
- You control the goalkeeper — your only job is to stop the incoming penalty kicks, not to take them.
- Use Left and Right arrows to move along the goal line, Up to jump for high shots, and Down to slide for low corners (swipe on mobile).
- Watch the shooter's body, plant foot, and aim before committing to a side — diving too early gives it away.
- Each match is six penalties; save at least four to win and move on to the next opponent.
- Grab power-ups that temporarily enlarge your keeper for easier saves, and avoid pickups that shrink you.
- Progress from the home league up to the professional league as the shots get faster and trickier.
Controls
- Desktop: Left/Right arrow keys to move, Up arrow to jump for high shots, Down arrow to slide/dive for low ones.
- Mobile / tablet: Swipe left/right to move and swipe up/down to jump or slide.
Penalty Superstar tips & strategy
- Don't dive too early — wait a beat to read the shooter's plant foot and aim direction before committing to a side.
- High shots need a jump (Up) and low corners need a slide (Down); mixing the two correctly is how you reach four saves.
- Keep your keeper roughly centered by default so you can break either way, and only fully commit to a corner once you've spotted the tell.
- Save the enlarge power-ups for the harder leagues, where the extra reach covers the most goal when shots get nasty.
- You only need 4 of 6 saves, so don't tilt after conceding one or two — reset and focus on the next penalty.

Penalty Superstar gameplay video
In this clip: The clip shows a cartoon penalty shootout viewed from in front of the goal, with a goalkeeper in a light blue kit and on-screen left, right, up and down arrow buttons below the goal. In one frame the keeper is high in the air with both arms raised. Later he is crouched in the center of the goal with the scoreboard at 2 : 1, and then at the right post with a ball just in front of him and the scoreboard at 4 : 2.
