About Head the Ball

Head the Ball is a browser-based soccer arcade game built with Construct 3, released in 2022. You control a player on the pitch and use headers to juggle and redirect the ball, keeping it in play while working it toward the opponent's goal. The core loop is skill-based ball control: time your headers to keep possession, avoid letting the ball drop or fly off the field, and use precise touches to set up a scoring chance.

How to play Head the Ball

1. Move your player left and right to get under the ball as it falls.
2. Time your header (or tap/click) to redirect the ball on contact.
3. Keep the ball off the ground and in your control while advancing toward the goal.
4. Line up your header to send the ball toward the goal or target to score.
5. Switch to defense when the ball comes at you, positioning your head to block or clear it.
6. Chain successful headers together to build up a scoring opportunity.

Controls

• Desktop: Mouse to move your player left/right and time headers; click to strike the ball.
• Mobile / tablet: Touch and drag to move your player, tap to head/strike the ball.

Head the Ball tips & strategy

• Watch the ball's arc, not its current position — move to where it will land, not where it is now.
• Small, well-timed taps keep the ball under control better than big swings that send it off-screen.
• Stay central when you don't have the ball so you can react to it falling from either side.
• Don't chase every bounce — sometimes it's better to reset your position and wait for the ball to come to you.
• Practice short return volleys before trying to line up a shot on goal; control first, aim second.
