Diva Hair Salon is a free 3D browser hair game that belongs to the rescue end of the genre rather than the open styling-studio end: the client does not arrive needing a trim, she arrives needing saving. The game opens poolside on a client whose hair is one solid matted mass, and the first thing it hands you is a shampoo bottle, with an on-screen pointer showing where to use it — washing and working the tangles out is the opening stage, not an optional step before the interesting part. The tutorial can be skipped. From there the game follows the familiar salon order, with cutting, colouring and accessories unlocking once the hair is workable. The 3D presentation and the deliberately extreme before state are what set it apart from the flat 2D salons: the transformation is the reward, and it is a large one. It plays instantly in the browser with no download, install or account, using mouse controls on a desktop and touch on a phone, and it fits itself to whatever screen you open it on.

How to play Diva Hair Salon

1. Let the opening tutorial play, or press SKIP at the top right to go straight in.
2. Start with the shampoo — the pointer shows where to apply it. Washing is a required stage, not an optional one.
3. Work the tangles out of the matted hair until it is smooth enough to style.
4. Cut and shape the hair once the wash stage is complete.
5. Colour and dye the hair, then add accessories to finish the look.
6. Finish the client and start again to try a different colour and style on the same disaster.

Controls

• Desktop: Mouse only. Click to pick up a tool, then click or drag on the hair to use it. The settings cog sits at the top left and the SKIP button for the tutorial at the top right.
• Mobile / tablet: Tap to select a tool and drag on the hair to use it. The game scales to the screen it opens on, so it works in either orientation.

Diva Hair Salon tips & strategy

• Do not try to skip ahead to the styling — the wash stage gates everything after it, which is the whole structure of the game.
• Follow the pointer during the opening steps; it tells you where the game expects the tool to go, and the matted hair hides the targets.
• Work through the tangles thoroughly before cutting. A cut judged on matted hair will not look the same once the hair is smooth.
• Colour comes after the cut here, as in a real salon, so decide the shape before you commit to a shade.
• Press SKIP on a replay — the tutorial repeats, and it is the slowest part of a second run.
• Because the before state is so extreme, pick a finishing colour with contrast: the transformation reads better than a subtle change does.
